A 43-year-old motorcycle rider is in hospital with life-altering injuries following a motorcycle collision on Muskoka Road 34.

The rider, a Midland man, was transported by Ornge to a Toronto trauma hospital after the crash, which occurred Aug. 19 at approximately 7 p.m., according to OPP.

Police say his motorcycle left the road surface of Muskoka Road 34 between Art’s Lane and Trillium Lane and struck a rock face.

Officers from the Southern Georgian Bay OPP responded to the scene along with Simcoe County paramedics and the Georgian Bay Fire Service.

OPP Central Region Traffic Investigators are assisting in the investigation into the cause of the crash, which has closed Muskoka Road 34 in both directions. A detour has been set up for drivers along Simcoe County Road 17 from Coldwater.

The investigation is ongoing at this time and updates will be posted as they become available.
